I finally cracked and bought a turntable. I’m enjoying it, although it is bloody expensive. I was annoyed with CDs as I would buy them and put them on my shelf never to be heard again. What does this have to do with photography you ask? Well, less money for new lenses and toys. Which is alright, I’m quite happy to work with what I have.
Brooke, Jordan, Caitlin & Aden (a.k.a. Immaculate Machine) came to town this weekend and I was thrilled, both because their music is fantastic and because Brooke is a heck of a nice guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him last summer at NLFB and was happy to see him again. I met both Jordan and Caitlin at the merch table and they were also quite awesome. I’m beginning to suspect indie rockers are some of the nicest people on the planet as everytime I meet them (before pestering them with my flash and constant clicking away) they seem like down to earth, honest and kind people.
This week was highlighted by legendary punk band NOMEANSNO at the Townehouse and two protests from the Graduate Students’ Association at Laurentian University against pay cuts to their salaries.
Protest here and NOMEANSNO here.
My friend Marc Lapierre brought his car down to Sudbury for the winter and when he came to pick it up, we went out at sunset and took some photos. You can find them here.
I’ve also updated my Project365.
This week started a bit weak with a photo of some pizza from Aramark, but ended strongly with some portraits of which I’m quite proud. You can find them in both the Project 365 section and the portrait section. Also I got some fantastic group shots at the rally to support CBC.
I also designed the GSA’s Handbook cover for 2009-10. I’m quite happy with how it turned out as well. The concept is Eric Blondin’s. Thanks to Noah who accepted to come out and
pose for me as well!
